How can I test my microphone and speakers in Teams for the web before joining a meeting?

I'm using Microsoft Teams in a web browser and cannot find an option to test my microphone and speakers before joining a meeting.

I'd like to verify that I can hear audio and that my microphone works without needing another participant to help.

Does Teams for the web offer a test call or another built-in audio test before joining a meeting or while a meeting is in progress? If so, where can I find it?

Environment:

Operating system: macOS Monterey 12.7.6

Browser: Safari version 17.6

Teams for the web does not offer the built-in Make a test call feature before joining a meeting or while in a meeting. That feature is currently unavailable on Teams for web.

What is available in Teams for the web:

    1. Check browser microphone permission in Safari
      • Open Safari > Preferences.
      • Select Websites.
      • Select Microphone.
      • Next to When visiting other websites, select Ask or Allow.
    2. Check macOS microphone permission for Teams
      • Open System Preferences.
      • Select Security & Privacy.
      • Select Microphone.
      • Make sure Microsoft Teams is selected.
      • Close all apps and restart the device.
    3. Choose the correct audio source before joining
      • On the Teams pre-join screen, select Computer audio if the browser should use the Mac’s speaker and microphone.
      • If another audio source was selected, switching back to Computer audio is done by selecting Unmute in the meeting controls after joining.
    4. Change mic settings during a meeting
      • In the meeting window, select the dropdown arrow next to Mic.
      • Select More audio settings.
      • Verify the correct microphone is selected.

For the specific request to test both microphone and speakers without another participant: Teams for the web does not provide that built-in test call capability.

    Hi =D,

Teams for the web does not currently provide the built-in "Make a test call" feature that is available in the Teams desktop client. Microsoft's test-call feature is found under Settings > Devices > Make a test call in the desktop app, but it is not available in Teams on the web.

Since you're using Teams on the Web, you can test it here https://devicetest.teams.microsoft.com/ and change the settings.

If your current browser is not supported, please switch to Edge.
