Try these Edge checks on the Mac first:

    1. Disable extensions that can trigger CAPTCHA or security pop-ups.
      • Select the Extensions icon next to the address bar, then Manage Extensions.
      • Temporarily disable ad-blocking or antivirus-related extensions.
      • Test Google search again.
    2. Check whether an extension changed search behavior.
      • Go to Settings and more > Settings.
      • Select Privacy, search, and services.
      • Select Search and connected experiences > Address bar and search.
      • Under Search engine used in address bar, confirm the preferred search engine is selected.
      • If an extension appears to be changing browser settings, disable or remove it.
    3. Turn Microsoft Defender SmartScreen off and back on to test whether the prompt is related to security filtering rather than pop-ups.
      • Go to Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
      • Select Security.
      • Turn Microsoft Defender SmartScreen off, test, then turn it back on.
      • SmartScreen is different from a pop-up blocker; it checks sites and downloads for threats.
    4. If the page is being blocked by a pop-up-related issue, check for ad blockers first.
      • Microsoft recommends temporarily disabling ad-blocking extensions when a website is blocked by a pop-up.

A reCAPTCHA prompt on Google search that suddenly started is commonly caused by an extension or a browser security/filtering interaction. The most direct Edge-based fix in the available guidance is to disable suspicious ad-blocking or antivirus extensions and verify search settings.

    Hi,

If the CAPTCHA is coming up on Google, this may mean your IP Reputation isn't good.

Can you restart your router to get a new IP? This will instantly stop Re-captcha.

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.
