This usually means the account or verification flow has been temporarily blocked because Microsoft detected unusual activity.
Try these steps in order:
- Stop repeated attempts. Repeated sign-in, verification, or invite attempts can extend the block.
- Wait before trying again. Wait at least 24 hours before retrying. If it still fails, wait longer if possible, up to 1 week.
- Try a different network. Switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or try another Wi‑Fi network.
- Try another browser or a private/incognito window. This can help if cached session data is interfering with the Family Safety invite flow.
- Make sure the invited account is not already in another family group. If the invited person is already in a different family group, they must leave that group before joining the new one.
- Ask the organizer to resend a fresh invitation after the wait period. Invitation links can expire, so use the new invite promptly.
- If sign-in or verification is also failing, use the Microsoft sign-in helper. The support guidance for Family Safety sign-in issues points to the sign-in helper tool.
- If the issue continues, contact Microsoft Support and provide the Trace ID shown in the error. Support can route the case based on the exact error details. Support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details.
