Auto complete of email addresses not removing incorrect ones

I have tried clearing caches, using the X and everything else but incorrectly typed email addresses keep coming up when i start to type an email address in the To field

Perform step "A - Export your Autocomplete List to a CSV file" from the Answer by "Hornblower409 May 1 2026" - "How to convert your Autocomplete List to Contacts and erase the List" at

If they are not in the exported CSV - Are you connected to an Exchange server account?

2026-09-28T14:20:04.1933333+00:00 Have you exported your Autocomplete List and verified that the incorrect entries are not there? (My original answer). We only need to move on to clearing any Exchange server cache if they were not in your account Suggested People.

Copilot tells me to "Recipient suggestions in Outlook.com contain incorrect addresses. They are not contacts, not in Sent Items, survive autocomplete cache clearing, and appear across devices. Please reset the mailbox recipient suggestion cache."

Don't understand. Please tell me which step doesn't work for you?
1 -- Open Outlook Web https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/ and logon to your account.
2 -- In Outlook web, from the main menu, choose File -> Settings -> General -> Privacy and data -> Suggested people -> Download my expanded people data
3 -- Your browser shows a new download of
suggested_people.csv -

Do the incorrect addresses appear in every Outlook client that accesses this mailbox (e.g. Outlook Web https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/ , Outlook desktop)?
If so, you may need to clear your Exchange tenant autocomplete. See the "Clear the AutoComplete list" section of

With the suggestion populated on the "To" line, if you right-click it, do you get a contact link?

2026-09-27T17:38:12.7566667+00:00 This happens often because there is a message in your mailbox somewhere that contains the strings that show when you start typing in a recipient field. Have you used the Search function to look for that address in the mailbox?
