How can I set the paper size of my document in Word to A5

Hi,

I have a document which I want to layout on an A5 paper format. When looking at the options in Layout -> Size, A4 and A3 are an option, but not A5. I understand from previous questions that this is due to my printer settings. However, I do not intend to print this document on my own printer, it needs to be printed somewhere else and I do not have access to that printer.

How can I set it to A5?

Thanks,

Alex

    1

    Open your document in Word.

    Select File - Print.

Set the printer drop-down to 'Microsoft Print to PDF'.

Then go back to Layout - Size to check if the A5 document is available in the list.

    2

If not, go to Layout - Size, scroll to the bottom of that menu and select 'More Page Sizes'.

On the resulting dialog, scroll to the bottom of the Paper Size drop-down menu.

    Select 'Custom Size.

Then set up a new paper size to either 5.8 in × 8.3 in or 14.8 cm × 21 cm.

    Save that setting.

That will then set your document size to A5.

In Word, A5 can be set through Page Setup even when it does not appear directly in Layout > Size.

    1. Go to Layout.
    2. In the Page Setup group, click the small dialog box launcher arrow.
    3. Open the Paper tab.
    4. In Paper size, select A5.
    5. Make sure the setting applies to the correct scope, preferably Whole document if the entire document should use A5.
    6. Click OK.

If A5 still does not appear, Word may be using the capabilities of the currently selected printer driver. In that case, switch the selected printer to a virtual printer such as Microsoft Print to PDF or Microsoft XPS Document Writer, then reopen Page Setup and select A5.

    A5 dimensions are 5.8 in × 8.3 in or 14.8 cm × 21 cm.
