An application or feature powered by Windows Copilot to assist users with tasks and productivity
If chats disappeared in the Copilot app, the most likely cause is that chats and content are still moving to the updated Copilot experience.
Try these steps:
- Check the signed-in account Make sure the same personal Microsoft account, Google sign-in, or Apple sign-in is being used that was previously used with Copilot.
- If using Google or Apple, use the correct sign-in button If the account was originally used through Google or Apple, select Continue with Google or Continue with Apple on the sign-in page.
- Restart Copilot Quit the app and reopen it. On the web, refresh the page.
- Check for in-app messages If content is still being moved, there may be a message or link in the app to access existing chats while the move completes.
- Allow time for sync across devices Different devices can show different chats while the move is still completing. After confirming the same account is used on each device, close and reopen Copilot on each device and check again later.
- Check whether only certain content is missing Most chats and eligible content move forward, but some retired features do not. Group Chat threads, messages, and content created in Group Chats will not carry forward after August 18, 2026.
If the account uses both Microsoft Copilot and the Microsoft Copilot app with a personal account, chat history and created content are merged into a single updated Copilot app. Personal and work or school data remain separate by design.
