Hi,

I have downloaded Windows 11 Insider ISOs from the official Windows Insider site. I tried to verify the ISO files with PowerShell.

I obtained the SHA-256 hash of the ISO using PowerShell. But there are no official SHA-256 hashes on the Windows 11 Insider site. Please help me find them.
I used two applications to verify ISO files. (1) nanaZip (2) Windows and Office ISO verifier
NanaZip says the ISO is genuine, and the Windows and Office ISO Verifier says it is not a genuine MSDN ISO.
Which application to trust?

Thanks.

Hi fahad khan,

I understand why the conflicting results are concerning, especially when there is no official SHA-256 value available for comparison.

The message from Windows and Office ISO Verifier stating that the file is “not a genuine MSDN ISO” does not necessarily mean that the ISO is modified or unsafe. Windows Insider Preview ISOs are not necessarily included in the tool’s MSDN hash database, particularly when the build is new. NanaZip and Windows and Office ISO Verifier are also third-party tools, so neither should be treated as Microsoft’s official confirmation of authenticity.

The safest approach is to download the ISO directly from the official Windows Insider Preview Downloads page. Microsoft’s current Insider ISO download page does not appear to provide a public SHA-256 list for comparison.

If you would like me to look into this more closely, please share the full ISO filename, Insider channel, build number, language, architecture, and the SHA-256 value calculated in PowerShell. Please do not include any product keys or account information. Thank you so much for your understanding.
