Searching in Edge - Bing shows HTTP:// links above the map view, which redirect to phishing websites

This only appears to happen in Edge / Bing. When I search Walmart, we see http://walmart.com

It seems when clicking the link, it cycles through multiple sketchy URLS and goes to the intended website. For websites like Menards, you get brought to another malicious site, that turns on notifications and brings popup notifications.

When I go to HTTP://menards.com, I am automatically redirected to HTTPS:// , so it seems to be a browser issue.

    Hi Trevor Cherechinsky,

Have you had a chance to try the guidance in the AI Answer and did any of those checks change the behavior?

To narrow this down further, does the redirect happen only when you open one particular Bing result or does it also occur on other websites? Please also test the same page in an InPrivate window. If it works normally there, temporarily turn off your Edge extensions under Extensions > Manage extensions, then test again.

It would also help to know whether the same link redirects in another browser or on another device and whether you downloaded anything or entered any account information on the redirected page. Please don’t share the full address if it contains personal details.

If the redirects continue across different websites, make sure Edge is up to date and run a Full scan from Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options. You can also report the unsafe page through Edge > Settings and more > Help and feedback > Report unsafe site.

Let me know what happens in InPrivate mode and whether disabling the extensions makes any difference.

This behavior is consistent with a deceptive or unsafe site flow rather than normal Edge behavior. In Microsoft Edge, suspicious or dangerous websites can be flagged because they may try to trick users into installing something dangerous or revealing personal information, and unwanted redirects or notification prompts are common signs of that.

    Recommended checks in Edge:

    1. Do not interact with the redirected page
      • Do not allow notifications.
      • Do not enter passwords or payment information.
      • Close the tab if a suspicious page appears.
    2. Verify the site security indicator before proceeding
      • In the address bar, check the connection icon.
      • If Edge shows the site as Suspicious or dangerous website (phishing or malware), avoid using it.
      • If the site is Not fully secure or has an Outdated security configuration, do not enter personal information.
    3. Make sure Microsoft Defender SmartScreen is enabled
      • In Edge, go to Settings and more > Privacy, search, and services.
      • Select Security and turn on Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
      • This helps protect against phishing sites and malicious downloads.
    4. Block notification abuse from sites that already prompted
      • In Edge, go to Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All sites.
      • Select the affected website.
      • Find Notifications and set it to Block.
      • While on a site, notifications can also be managed from View site information to the left of the address bar, then Permissions for this site > Notifications > Block.
    5. Turn on insecure connection alerts
      • In Edge, go to Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Security.
      • Ensure Get alerts about insecure connections is turned on.
      • Edge can warn about insecure HTTP connections.
    6. Use Edge protections for mistyped or deceptive domains
      • Edge includes website typo protection and can warn when a mistyped common web address may lead to a malicious site.
      • Enhanced security mode can also reduce risk on unfamiliar sites.

If the issue is specifically that Bing is showing an unsafe or incorrect result, Bing can flag harmful pages during indexing, but service-side search result behavior is a back-end issue. The supported path for that kind of Bing result problem is to send feedback in Bing.
