Additional SQL Server features and topics not covered by specific categories
Hi @GVC
I checked the download page for the Microsoft Command Line Utilities for SQL Server, and Microsoft doesn't publish SHA256 checksums for it. The installer is digitally signed though, and the signature is the official way to confirm it's genuine and hasn't been changed.
- Download the x64 package from the official link on the bcp download page.
- Right-click the file > Properties > Digital Signatures. The signer should be Microsoft Corporation. Select it > Details and confirm it says "This digital signature is OK".
- Or check it in PowerShell with
Get-AuthenticodeSignature .\<file name> | Format-List Status, SignerCertificate. Status should be Valid and the certificate subject should be Microsoft Corporation. - If your process needs a hash on record, generate it yourself after the signature check passes with
Get-FileHash .\<file name> -Algorithm SHA256. Use that hash for your internal approval and for checking other copies you distribute. - After installing, run
bcp -vto confirm the version.
Does your security process accept a valid Authenticode signature, or does it need a hash published by Microsoft?
If this covers your verification step, please consider accepting it as the answer. If the signature check shows anything other than Valid, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
