Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Try these in classic Outlook for Windows:
- Use the standard paste shortcut: Ctrl+V.
- If Paste Special is needed, use Alt+H, V, S.
- Open the Office Clipboard and paste from there:
- In the email message window, go to the Message tab.
- In the Clipboard group, select the Clipboard dialog box launcher.
- Double-click the copied item to paste it.
If Ctrl+Alt+V was being used before, that is a known issue in classic Outlook starting with Current Channel Version 2503 Build 18623.20156. The workaround is to use Alt+HVS or the Paste Special option on the Ribbon.
If pasted content is losing formatting, Outlook also has paste behavior options such as Keep Source Formatting, Merge Formatting, and Keep Text Only for:
- within the same email
- between emails
- from other programs
If the copied item still will not paste, the Office Clipboard method is the most direct built-in alternative supported in Outlook.
