Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi MaryDe Elliston,
I understand how alarming it is to open Outlook and suddenly find your contacts, sent messages, and other mailbox content missing.
The “tag” shown on the forum is only a category used to identify the product related to your question. You do not need to generate a special tag or code to recover your Outlook data.
Before changing or removing the Outlook profile, please sign in to Outlook on the web using the exact same email address and check whether your folders and contacts are available there. This will help determine whether the information is still stored in the mailbox or whether the issue is limited to classic Outlook on the computer.
Could you let me know:
- Is the account an Outlook.com, Hotmail, Microsoft 365 work or school, or third-party email account?
- Is everything also missing when you sign in through the account’s webmail?
- Did this begin after an Outlook or Windows update, reinstall, account removal, or profile change?
Please also select File > Account Settings > Account Settings in classic Outlook and verify that the expected email account is listed. Avoid deleting the Outlook profile or any PST/OST files for now, as locally stored information could be affected.
While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
