Descriptive Statistics is part of the Analysis ToolPak. If that option is missing, the ToolPak is not available or not enabled.

    For Excel for Mac:

    1. Open Excel.
    2. Go to Tools > Excel Add-ins.
    3. Select Analysis ToolPak.
    4. Select OK.
    5. Then go to the Data tab and look for Data Analysis.
    6. Inside Data Analysis, select Descriptive Statistics.

If Data Analysis still does not appear:

    • Make sure Analysis ToolPak is checked in Tools > Excel Add-ins.
    • If prompted to install it, select Yes.

    Important limitation:

    • In Excel for the web, the Analysis ToolPak is not available.
    • On devices that only use the web version, such as a Chromebook, the ToolPak and its Descriptive Statistics option are unavailable.
