Windows：How to fix an expired Windows build in Windows Insider Preview

For an expired Windows Insider Preview build, the supported fix is to update to a newer Insider build.

1. Open Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
2. If updates are available for the current Insider channel, install the latest build.
3. If no update appears, open Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program and verify the device is still enrolled in the correct channel.
4. If the device was previously on Dev Channel and channels were changed without a clean installation, updates might stop appearing. In that case, the documented options are:
   • switch back to Dev Channel and update to the latest available build, or
   • reinstall Windows using a Windows Insider ISO to move to Beta, or
   • perform a clean installation of Windows.

For the build shown in the screenshot, similar cases on Microsoft Q&A indicate that newer Insider builds were released specifically to refresh the expiration date. If Windows Update says the device is up to date but the expiration warning remains, check the Insider channel first, then run Windows Update again.

If updates are still not offered, Windows Insider troubleshooting also states that settings may need adjustment or a clean install may be required.

Before reinstalling or doing a clean install, back up important files because installed apps, settings, and potentially local data can be removed.
