A free program from Microsoft that provides developers with the tools, resources, and sandbox environments needed to build solutions for Microsoft 365.
Manual qualification is not available.
The Microsoft 365 Developer Program has a two-stage process:
- Join the program.
- Qualify through an eligible path, complete any required verification, and then provision the sandbox from the Developer Program dashboard.
An enterprise or production Microsoft 365 subscription does not qualify an account automatically, and joining the program alone does not guarantee an E5 sandbox.
Current supported qualification paths are:
- Visual Studio Professional or Enterprise standard subscribers
- ISV Success Program members
- Eligible Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program participants
- Organizations with Premier or Unified Support contracts
If eligible, the Developer Program dashboard shows Set up E5 subscription. That starts the automated onboarding flow. For Premier or Unified Support customers, the request is handled through the Microsoft partner contact using the same email address used to register for the program.
Relevant checks:
- Sign in with a supported email account. Phone numbers and
*.onmicrosoft.comaccounts are not supported for sign-up. - Complete the Developer Program profile and any identity or eligibility verification requested.
- Use the same account to sign in to the Developer Program dashboard.
If the dashboard still shows You don’t currently qualify, that means the account has not met one of the documented eligibility paths. There is no documented manual profile review or manual enablement path in the provided guidance.
