option to get smaller MS Access runtime

Currently, Microsoft doesn't provide a separate lightweight Microsoft 365 Access Runtime package. The current Runtime uses Click to Run technology, which downloads Office installation content from Microsoft's servers, resulting in a significantly larger installation size. 

Here are the available options: 

Option 1: Use the standard Microsoft 365 Access Runtime installer 

This is the recommended option for individual devices with internet access. 

Open the official Microsoft 365 Access Runtime download page. 

Select the required language. 

Choose the 32 bit or 64 bit version that matches the existing Office installation. 

Run the installer and allow it to download the required files. 

Note: Before installing Access Runtime, please verify whether the existing Office installation is 32 bit or 64 bit and ensure the Runtime matches that architecture. 

Option 2: Use the Office Deployment Tool for a smaller deployment package 

This is the best option when the goal is to reduce the size of the package distributed to users. 

Download the Office Deployment Tool. 

Create a configuration file for the required Access Runtime installation. 

Distribute only the Office Deployment Tool and configuration file. 

Allow each device to download the installation content directly from Microsoft's Content Delivery Network during setup. 

This approach keeps the deployment package very small, although the device still downloads the required installation content during installation.

Option 3: Use a local installation source 

This option works well in environments where internet access is restricted. 

Use the Office Deployment Tool to download the required installation files. 

Store the files on a shared internal location. 

Configure devices to install from that location. 

Use caching solutions where available to reduce repeated downloads across multiple devices.
