I have been using Publisher since it first started. I have way too many documents to organize before the cut off date. I have been trying to convert as many as I can from publisher but no other software program does what this does and I have too many documents with little time to spend on it. Why hasn't there been an opportunity to purchase something that could be rebooted into the next computer. I dont understand why Microsoft are holding so many people to ransom. It seems there has been enough people needing it to warrant continuing. Is there anyone who has found someone to purchase this from that will work.

    Hi @Carmen,

Many long-time Publisher users are in the same position, especially those who have built up years of templates and publications that are difficult to migrate to other applications.

According to Microsoft's official article, Publisher will reach end of life in October 2026. However, there is an important distinction between the Microsoft 365 subscription version and the perpetual (non-subscription) version of Publisher. Microsoft states that while support for the perpetual version will end in October 2026, you will still be able to install and use the application after that date. The main impact is that it will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support.

You can refer to this article for more details:

If your goal is to continue using Publisher for existing files and workflows, you may wish to contact Microsoft licensing resellers and ask whether they still have Publisher 2021 perpetual licenses available from remaining stock. Some organizations have reported finding licenses through resellers such as:

    • SoftwareONE
    • Crayon
    • Insight
    • CDW

Microsoft’s Official Solution Provider Finder: This tool lists certified Microsoft Partners: https://partner.microsoft.com/en-us/partnership/find-a-partner

In some cases, partners may still have inventory from programs such as:

    • Legacy Open License stock
    • CSP Perpetual licenses
    • Retail inventory

If you pursue this option, I would recommend carefully verifying:

    • Certificate of Authenticity (COA) or proof of purchase
    • License source and legitimacy
    • Transfer rights (if applicable)
    • Long-term activation eligibility

While I cannot guarantee availability from any specific reseller, it may be worth contacting them directly to see whether Publisher 2021 perpetual licenses are still available in your region.

I hope this information helps clarify Microsoft's position and provides a possible path forward if you need additional time to work with your existing Publisher documents. If I have misunderstood any part of your situation, please feel free to clarify, and I'll do my best to help further.

Thank you again for your time and understanding. I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.
