Try this in order:
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
- Windows 11: Open the Get Help Bluetooth troubleshooter.
- Windows 10: Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Bluetooth > Run the troubleshooter.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
- Windows 11: Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons on the taskbar, then turn on Bluetooth.
- Windows 10: Open action center, expand if needed, and turn on Bluetooth.
- Check the Sony headphones
- Make sure the headphones are powered on, charged, and in range.
- Turn the headphones off, wait a few seconds, then turn them back on.
- Keep them away from nearby USB 3.0 devices, which can interfere with Bluetooth.
- Make the PC discoverable / show more devices
- Windows 11: Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices. Under Bluetooth devices discovery, change it to Advanced.
- Windows 10: Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & other devices > More Bluetooth options > Options, then check Allow Bluetooth devices to find this PC.
- Check PC settings
- Make sure Airplane mode is off.
- Turn Bluetooth off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on.
- Remove and pair the headphones again
- Windows 11: Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices > select More options for the Sony device > Remove device > Yes.
- Windows 10: Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > select the Sony device > Remove device > Yes.
- Then pair the headphones again.
- Update the Bluetooth driver
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Restart the PC if prompted.
- If Bluetooth is missing or still not working
- In Device Manager, if the Bluetooth adapter is present, uninstall it, then shut down and turn the PC back on so Windows can reinstall it automatically.
- If Windows does not reinstall it, open Device Manager > Action > Scan for hardware changes.
If the headphones connect but there is no sound, select them as the output device:
- Start > Settings > System > Sound
- Under Choose your output device, select the Sony headphones.
