If the touchpad is completely not working and the pointer/cursor is not visible, try these steps in order. You can do them using only the keyboard.

    1. Try the touchpad shortcut

Look at the F1–F12 keys for a key with a touchpad icon (usually a small rectangle/touchpad symbol).

    Press:

    Fn + that F-key

Common examples are Fn + F6, F7, F9, or F10, depending on the laptop.

    1. Check Windows Touchpad settings

    Press:

    Windows + I

    Then use the keyboard:

    1. Press Tab until you reach the settings categories.
    2. Go to Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad.
    3. Make sure Touchpad = On.
    4. Check Device Manager

Since you mentioned “Windows for Home | Other | Devices and drivers”, if you're looking at Device Manager:

    Press:

    Windows + X → Device Manager

    Then look under:

    Human Interface Devices

    Mice and other pointing devices

    Look for something like:

    HID-compliant touch pad

    Precision Touchpad

    ELAN Touchpad

    Synaptics Touchpad

    Hi, @Jina Mangaoang

If the touchpad is completely unresponsive and the pointer is missing, first check whether the touchpad was accidentally disabled.

    • Look for a touchpad key on the top row of the keyboard, usually one of the F keys with a touchpad icon. Try pressing it, or Fn + that key.
    • If you can connect a USB mouse, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad and make sure Touchpad is turned on.
    • Restart the laptop once as well.

If the issue still persists, to help narrow down the issue:

    1. What is the make and exact model of the laptop?
    2. Did the touchpad stop working after a Windows update, driver update, or restart?
    3. Does the touchpad appear under Device Manager > Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!
