How can I log in to my Microsoft account? I keep failing to log in even though I am using the correct password; the system keeps flagging it as incorrect. I am also unable to log in to Microsoft apps (such as Microsoft Authenticator, Outlook, etc.). Please fix this issue.

    Hi,

Please try using a different internet connection. Then, open an InPrivate window (Ctrl + Shift + N) in your browser and try logging in to your account using the link below:

    https://account.microsoft.com/

    Can you log in there?

If you’re using the correct password but access is being denied, it usually means that your account may be blocked. Do you have any recovery methods, such as an alternate email address or the Microsoft Authenticator app?

Have you already tried resetting your password?

If the password is correct but sign-in keeps failing, use the Microsoft Sign-in Helper first. It is the primary Microsoft recovery path for repeated sign-in failures and can identify account-specific problems.

    Recommended steps:

    1. Start with the Sign-in Helper and enter the email address or phone number used for the account.
    2. If the password was forgotten, use Reset your password.
    3. If the password is known but has stopped working, use the Sign-in Helper tool again rather than repeatedly retrying the password.
    4. If the account name is not recognized, or an error says “We couldn't find an account with that username” or “account doesn't exist”, use the Sign-in Helper tool.
    5. If verification codes are not arriving or cannot be used, follow the verification code troubleshooting steps.
    6. If the username may be wrong, check whether the correct Microsoft account address is being used, including the correct email domain such as .com vs .co.uk, and try any alternate alias or phone number on the account.
    7. If the account has not been signed in to for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened.

    For Outlook.com specifically:

    • Sign in with the Microsoft account username and password at the Outlook.com sign-in page.
    • If unusual sign-in activity is detected, Microsoft may require identity confirmation, especially from a new device or location.
    • Use the Outlook.com account troubleshooter if sign-in still fails.

    For Microsoft apps:

    • Outlook mobile app: for a personal Microsoft account, use the Microsoft sign-in helper flow. If recurring password prompts started recently, install the latest Outlook mobile app version.
    • Microsoft 365 or Office apps: if sign-in fails there too, use the Microsoft Sign-in helper.

If the username and password still do not work after recovery attempts:

    1. Go to Recover your account.
    2. Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
    3. Choose where to receive the security code.
    4. Enter the code.
    5. Set a new password.

If the account still shows “We couldn't find an account with that username” after that, contact support through the Microsoft support path. Support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details directly.
