Email Signatures Not Working on Replies

I use a Macbook with Outlook installed. I have had no issues before yesterday. Signatures on reply emails are now put at the very bottom of the chain rather than where you type a reply. It is doing this on all four accounts I use in Outlook.

I deleted the signatures and changed the rules to none for new and reply and restarted the computer. I added the signatures back and nothing has changed.

Signatures on replies are at the very bottom of the chain

On the web everything works fine, but on the outlook app on mac, after update im also facing the same problem.

I am tracking multiple reports of this problem:

Only possible workaround I've seen is from:

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/outlookgeneral/outlook-for-mac-inserts-signatures-at-the-very-end-of-an-email-chain/4460566

enabling “When replying or forwarding, use the format of the original message”, is currently the best solution, as it forces Outlook to keep the proper layout. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is expected to release a fix in a future update

Every report helps move this issue one tiny bit higher on the Microsoft Fixit List. (I can imagine it's a pretty long list).

How to Submit a Problem Report:
See the "macOS" tab at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-do-i-give-feedback-on-microsoft-365

Copilot suggest this as a sample Problem Report:

  • Title: Outlook for Mac: Email Signature Appears Below Quoted Message Header Instead of Below Reply Text
  • Problem Description: Since a recent Outlook for Mac update, email signatures are being inserted in the wrong location when replying to messages. Affects both automatic and manually inserted signatures. Recreating signatures, restarting Outlook, and recreating the account do not resolve the issue. Multiple users have reported the same behavior in New Outlook for Mac.

    Hi BC,

Since the behavior started suddenly and is affecting all four accounts, it may be worth checking whether the issue is specific to the current Outlook experience rather than the individual signature settings themselves. The thread indicates that recreating signatures did not change the result.

As a quick test, please try:

    • In Outlook for Mac, switch between New Outlook and Legacy Outlook (if the option is available).
    • Send yourself a test message and reply to it.
    • Check whether the signature is inserted correctly in both experiences.

If the signature is positioned correctly in one mode but not the other, that helps narrow the issue to the Outlook client behavior and may provide a practical workaround while continuing to use Outlook normally.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
