    Hi, Patricia Weddington

Activation usually fails when Microsoft 365 is linked to a different Microsoft account, the subscription has expired, or another Office installation is causing a licensing conflict.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Sign in to Services & subscriptions using the email address used to purchase Microsoft 365 Personal. Confirm the subscription appears as Active. If it is missing, try your other personal email addresses.

Open Word, select File > Account, sign out of every account, close all Office apps, and then sign back in with the account that owns the subscription.

If you purchased a new product key, redeem it once at Microsoft 365 setup, then sign in to Office with the same account.

On Windows 10 or 11, run the Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter and restart the computer.

If multiple Office versions are installed, remove the unused versions and restart.

If activation still fails, please share the exact error message and whether you use Windows or Mac.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
