How do I scan from my computer with this printer/scanner?

I need to scan and am unable to see where I an activate this process.

What printer do you own? I have two printers and have never had any problems scanning with them. Use what the manufacture of your printer provides. Did it come with a disk so you can add additional features? The image below shows what came with my Epson printer. I use the Epson Scan 2 when I want to scan. Have you looked at the User Manual for your printer? The icon for Epson XP-7100 U is for the User's Guide for my printer.
