I'm trying to sign into my school email portal "[Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]@taalim.ma. but I'm prompted to verify my identity via SMS. However, I receive the following error message:

The error code 399287 indicates that the sign-in process is failing during the identity verification (MFA) step.

Because ******@taalim.ma account is managed by your school, the MFA settings and verification methods are controlled by your organization's Microsoft 365 administrators. In this case, I recommend contacting your admin to verify your MFA configuration or reset your authentication methods.

Is there a possibility for the engineering team regarding the MFA issue on my account can unblocked my number from the backend and cleared the bad reputation associated with it?

Yes, if your school's administrator determines that the issue may be related to the phone number or SMS verification backend, they can open a support ticket with Microsoft and request further investigation.

Because this @taalim.ma account is managed by your school, any MFA reset, phone-number verification review, or escalation to Microsoft must be initiated through your school's IT department or Microsoft 365 administrator.

Once access is restored, I also recommend adding additional authentication methods, such as Microsoft Authenticator or another verification method, so that you are not dependent on SMS verification alone in the future.

Therefore, the next step is to contact your school's IT team. They can review the account first and, if necessary, raise a Microsoft support case on your behalf.

Hello, I am a Moroccan student locked out of my @taalim.ma school account after losing access to my old phone number.

Adding my new number fails with “We ran into a problem. Please try again.” I tested multiple browsers, four phones, and different networks. Changing the country to USA allowed me to pass the CAPTCHA, but the same error returned afterward.
