Hi, I am setting up a spreadsheet to track and manage a used car inventory for a client. I want to organize data like make, model, year, and price efficiently.

For reference, I want to structure my data categories similar to how this live inventory is organized: https://johnautos.com/

Are there any recommended Excel templates or advanced filtering features that work best for automotive data management? Thanks!

If that's your intention, then you might want to group your inventory data into clear, operational columns:

    • Stock Number: Unique dealership ID (e.g., JA-1042) to track the vehicle.
    • Core Specifications: Make, Model, Year, and Body Style (e.g., Convertible, Hatchback, Saloon, SUV).
    • Vehicle History: HPI Status (Passed/Pending), Previous Owners, and Mileage.
    • Mechanical Specs: Transmission (Automatic/Manual) and Drive Type (2WD/3WD/4WD).
    • Financial Tracking: Acquisition Cost, Reconditioning Costs, Asking Price, and Target Monthly Finance (HP) Payment.
    • Status Tracker: Dropdown menu for current phase: In Prep, Listed, Under Deposit, or Sold.

For templates, check Vertex42 Vehicle Fleet Tracker - that's a lightweight spreadsheet architecture available on Vertex42 that easily scales up to log individual vehicle statuses and costs. More at https://www.vertex42.com/ExcelTemplates/inventory.html
