Where can I get an offline installer of DirectX 9 for my Windows XP computer?

I do not want to hook up my Windows XP to the internet as it is obviously unsecure to do so with such an outdated system. However, any time I try to install the DirectX 9 program from the Microsoft website, it tells me it is unable to connect to the internet to download the program. Where is an offline version of DirectX 9 available?

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I see that the link the previous user gave you is indeed the package of directX9, which include the offline installation package. Could you please check the setup file name again to see if you use the exact one? The file you need to extract is directx_Jun2010_redist.exe not dxwebsetup.exe. Also, when it finishes, it will create DXSETUP.EXE which you must run afterward.

This fixed the issue, apparently there are two different versions of the DirectX installer but Microsoft failed to put any identification on either one that denotes which one the user is downloading until the program actually downloads.

Actually, one of the installation files as I stated is dxwebsetup.exe. As the name suggests, the file is for web setup, which requires the internet.

DirectX isn't sold in stores so the only place you can get it is online. You can download DirectX 9.29.1974.1 from Microsoft on a different computer and transfer it to a diskette.

I did that but the program told me it had to be connected to the internet in order for it download and install the Direct X 9 to my PC. This made no sense as I had already downloaded it to my PC in the first place.
