Hi Connor Mccully,
Since the headset is being detected for audio but not as a recording device, Windows may not be recognizing the microphone portion of the headset. This can occur due to audio jack configuration, driver detection, or input device settings.
Please try the following quick checks:
- Open Settings > System > Sound > Input and check if the headset microphone appears under Choose a device for speaking or recording. If it does, select it as the default input device and run a microphone test.
- In Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers, uninstall the audio device, then restart the PC to allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
If you're using a wired 3.5 mm headset, verify whether your PC has a single combo audio jack or separate headphone and microphone ports. A headset with a single plug may require a headset splitter when used with separate audio and mic ports.
If the microphone still does not appear after these checks, please let us know more information as suggested by the Independent Advisor and we'll help narrow down the cause.
