To test webcam and audio without upgrading Windows, use the built-in tools in the current version.

    For audio (microphone):

    1. Make sure the microphone is connected to the PC.
    2. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
    3. Under Input, confirm the correct microphone is listed. If it is a Bluetooth microphone, select Add device and follow the prompts.
    4. In Input, select the microphone to test and choose > to open the Properties page.
    5. Under Input settings, select Start test and speak normally, then select Stop test and Play to hear the sample. Adjust Input volume if needed.

For webcam and meeting audio in Lync/Teams-like clients (Lync 2010 / Lync Online as example):

    1. Open the client main window.
    2. Select the Options button.
    3. Go to Audio Device and verify the correct audio device is selected; use Check Call Quality if available.
    4. Go to Video Device and verify the camera preview appears and is working correctly.
    5. Select OK to save.

During a meeting, similar steps can be used from the conversation window via Settings > Set Up Audio and Video, then checking Audio Device and Video Device.

You should not need to upgrade to test your audio and webcam, they should work correctly.

If you open the Camera app, is your webcam working in that app, and if you go into the Settings app, Audio section, you can test your Microphone is working in there.

If both are working then your webcam and Microphone should work correctly in Teams, provided you have enabled both in Privacy & Security settings for all apps, including the Teams app, and you can also perform a test to ensure they are working in Teams on this link:
