Outlook is suddenly not opening PDF file attachments

When I receive an email with a PDF attached, I can't open it or save it. It says to "try again later". This issue just started this morning. I have restarted Outlook several times, rebooted my laptop, cleared my cache of stored files and it's still happening. Help, please.

Based on similar Outlook attachment issues, the most effective immediate steps are:

    1. Fully close and restart the browser
      • Close all browser windows where Outlook Web is open.
      • Reopen the browser and sign back in to Outlook Web, then try downloading/opening the PDF again.
    2. Reset the browser settings (Chrome example on Mac) If using Chrome on Mac (steps are similar on Windows):
      • Go to Chrome > Settings > Reset Settings > Restore settings to their original defaults, then select Reset settings.
      • Then go to Chrome > Services > Service Settings > Restore Defaults > Done.
      • Reopen Outlook Web and test downloading/opening the PDF attachment again.
    3. Try another browser
      • If the problem persists in the current browser, sign in to Outlook Web in a different browser (for example, Edge or Safari) and test opening/saving the same PDF attachment.

If attachments download and open correctly after resetting the browser or using a different browser, the issue is with the original browser profile/settings rather than Outlook.
