Just downloaded Office 2024 and now several Outlook folders and all calendar items are missing. Understand this could be resolved by switching back to Classic Outlook (which is my preference anyway) but I have no toggle and attempts to manually switch to Classic have failed. I have a backup of the old Outlook items, as was recommended, but the new Outlook will not allow import of PST files. Stumped...

I have MS Office 2024 Professional Plus for Windows Lifetime license. Doesn't match any of your suggestions. I also do not have Office (new) in Installed Apps on Windows 11. The version of Outlook that Office 2024 came with would not add some of my email addresses so the MS support person logged on and ended up installing Outlook Classic. Everything was working fine until I tried to connect other apps to use Office as default email. Now all my office apps say they will expire in 2 days unless I log on but logon doesn't work. I keep getting hung up on by AI support and have no access to Engage Center when I go there. VEry VERY VEEERY frustrated.

I understand that you have the same or similar issue to the one discussed in this thread. But you will probably not get any help by adding to an old post.

I would suggest that you start a new thread using the "Ask a question" button at the top of this page to create a new Question and include the details for your specific problem and what steps you have already tried to fix it.

This provides much higher visibility to your issue than adding on to an existing post, which is only seen by people who are already following this question.

Hi Chris,

You may try this workaround.

You can uninstall New Outlook from Windows Settings to force the system to use the classic version. Simply go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps, locate “Outlook (new),” and uninstall it. Since the new Outlook is installed as a separate app, removing it allows the classic Outlook that comes with Office 2024 to take over. Once you’re back on the classic version, you’ll regain full features such as importing PST files, which are not supported in the new Outlook.

Thank you. I had tried that fix previously but did not have an "Outlook (new)", just "Outlook". But in the end I hired a computer fix company to remote in and they have the problem solved in 5 minutes. So good now. Thanks all...

Office Home 2024 does not include Classic Outlook for Windows. Only New Outlook for Windows. You have to have Office Home & Business 2024 to get Classic Outlook for Windows.

New Outlook currently cannot import from a .pst. Use classic Outlook to restore the backup, then access the data from New Outlook.

Install or reinstall classic Outlook (desktop) if not present. For Microsoft 365 subscriptions that include desktop apps, use the classic Outlook installer described in Install classic Outlook for Windows.
If New Outlook is open, turn off the New Outlook toggle to switch back to classic Outlook. If the toggle is missing, possible causes include:
- Unsupported Outlook version (non‑subscription versions such as Outlook 2021/2019 are not supported for the toggle).
- Unsupported Windows version (must be Windows 10 build 1809 or higher).
- POP or on‑premises Exchange accounts in the classic profile.
- Admin or policy settings hiding the toggle (for work/school accounts).
In classic Outlook, import the .pst:
- Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Import from another program or file > Outlook Data File (.pst) and complete the wizard.
After the mailbox is restored in classic Outlook, New Outlook can work with the mailbox data stored on the server. Keep using classic Outlook if local‑only .pst workflows are required until New Outlook adds full import support.

If the toggle still does not appear and this is a work/school account, contact the organization’s IT admin to check the HideNewOutlookToggle registry/policy and supported channels.
