Once i or someone else has replied to an email then the previous attachments disappear. I am no longer able to locate them and open them.

    Hi,

Are you viewing your emails in Conversation view in Outlook on the web?

Turn off Conversation view so each email shows its own attachments clearly. In Outlook on the web, go to Settings, select Mail, then Layout, and turn off Show email grouped by conversation. Open the email again and you will see each message separately with its original attachments visible and accessible.

In Outlook and Outlook.com, each message in a conversation only shows the attachments that were sent with that specific message. When replying or forwarding, attachments from earlier messages are not automatically carried forward, so it can look like they “disappeared” in the thread.

To find and open earlier attachments:

    1. Open the conversation/thread.
    2. Expand and select the specific earlier message in the thread where the attachment was originally sent.
    3. The attachment will be visible only on that original message; open or download it from there.
    4. If the attachment needs to be included in a reply, download it first, then attach it again to the new message.

If attachments truly are missing from the original messages (not just from replies), this can be caused by server-side issues or bugs. In Exchange/Outlook environments, known issues with attachments being hidden or missing have been fixed by installing the relevant Exchange Server updates on the server side.
