I hope this message finds you well. We have a customer with vSphere 9 (launched June 2025) dependant on Azure migrate for their migration, however we see that only vSphere 8 is included in the docs. Is there a roadmap or additional information on when vSphere 9 will be supported ?

The available documentation for Azure Migrate VMware migration lists support for VMware vCenter Server and ESXi up to version 8.0 (and subsequent updates in that major version) for both agentless and agent-based migration. vSphere 9 is not mentioned in the current support matrix, and no roadmap or timeline for vSphere 9 support is provided in the referenced materials.

For planning purposes, verify requirements against the current support matrix before migration and recheck the same documentation closer to the project date to see if vSphere 9 has been added.

Hello Kyle, thanks for reaching out!

Right now Azure Migrate officially supports vSphere up through vCenter/ESXi 8.x (and the updates in that branch), plus earlier 7.0/6.7/6.5 releases. vSphere 9 isn’t yet on the published support matrix, and we don’t have a public ETA for when 9.0 will be added. Typically, once we’ve validated support for a new vSphere version, we update the “Support matrix for VMware vSphere migration” article and call it out in the Azure Migrate release notes.

    In the meantime, you can:

    • Keep an eye on the support matrix for any updates:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/migrate/migrate-support-matrix-vmware-migration

    • Check the Azure Migrate release notes (linked from the portal) for new version support announcements.

    • If the customer wants to test today, spin up the latest Azure Migrate appliance bits against vSphere 9 and raise a support request if you hit a version-related block.

Hope this helps! let me know once you’ve got those details! thanks
