The volume through my headset is too low on Teams, and doesn't change with volume control. I've tried switching headset, but still have the same problem.

Hi! Let me help you with this issue.

Let's troubleshoot the Audio driver. Please follow the steps below.

Please hover your mouse over the sound icon in the lower-right corner, then right-click it and select Troubleshoot Sound. Let the troubleshooter finish its task, then this should either resolve the problem or display an error message.

If that doesn't work, we need to remove the Audio driver from the Device Manager and restart the PC to reinstall it.

Here are the steps to completely remove a Device from your computer.

Step 1. Use the Windows key + X shortcut.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Right-click the problematic device, which is either Realtek Audio, or AMD High-definition Audio, or High-Definition Audio, depending on the audio device installed in your PC, and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

After the reboot, please see if the problem is fixed.

If that still does not work, please visit the support website of your laptop or desktop and then download and install the latest Audio driver, then restart the PC.

Try these steps to fix low headset volume in Teams and make the volume control effective:

    1. Check device volume in the OS
      • On Windows/Surface:
        • Use the hardware volume buttons or keyboard volume keys to raise the system volume.
        • In the desktop taskbar, select the Speakers icon and move the volume slider up.
      • On Mac:
        • Open System Settings (or System Preferences in macOS 12) > Sound.
        • Under Output, select the headset and increase Output volume. Make sure Mute is not selected.
    2. Check volume on the headset and in apps
      • If the headset has its own volume or mute controls, increase the volume there.
      • If using Teams in a browser or another app with its own volume slider, raise the volume inside that app as well.
      • Note that app and accessory volume controls can be independent of system volume, so multiple places may need adjustment.
    3. Select the correct speaker in Teams
      • In Teams, select Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > Devices.
      • Under Audio > Audio settings, choose the headset under the Speaker dropdown.
      • Select Make a test call to verify the volume. If the test call is still too quiet, adjust system and headset volume again while the test call is playing.
    4. Reset app sound levels (Windows 11)
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound > Volume mixer.
      • Under Apps, reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended defaults. This can fix cases where Teams’ app volume is stuck at a low level even when system volume is high.

If the problem persists after these steps and affects only Teams (other apps are loud enough), reinstalling or updating Teams and ensuring the latest OS updates are installed is recommended.
