Hello,

For any reason, I have a long time to access to the Azure default directory of my personal account, but It's always asking for the Microsoft Authenticator code always, I have changed my device before, but it seems that I couldn't add my account correctly because the code doesn't match. I can access to my personal email and anything that allows me to signin with my password, but Azure is not working with my password, I need this urgently because I need to add more resources. I should be the administrator of the directory because it is my own account.

Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

This is a AAD MFA issue, not a password issue. Your Azure default directory is protected by multi-factor authentication, and since you changed your device, the Microsoft auth app is no longer correctly linked to your account. That is why the code does not match even though your password works for email.

If you are the only Global Administrator of that directory, recovery depends on whether you configured alternate authentication methods earlier. First, try signing in at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and check if you can use SMS, alternate email, or another verification method to reconfigure Microsoft Authenticator. If you cannot access any other method, you will need to contact Microsoft support and request an MFA reset for your tenant. Since this is your own tenant, Microsoft will verify ownership before resetting MFA. If there are no other Global Admins and no recovery methods configured, the process can take time because Microsoft must validate tenant ownership.

always configure at least two MFA methods and assign a second Global Administrator account for recovery. That is a critical governance practice for any Azure tenant.
