Hello,

I have several problems with adding my son to family safety.

Me and my son has microsoft accounts connected with google acount.

Family safety worked for 2-3 years, but it suddenly stopped working about an year ago. I thought that it was caused by some kind of problems with my son's computer (old PC with W10 home). Anyway I have bought new computer for my son with W11 Home and still I have big problems to setup family safety.

Here it is how it looks right now.

I am able to add my son's account to my "family" - I can see it in my familysafety panel.

[screen are in Polish because I am using Polish version of W11]

Hi,Maciej Grabowski

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

Sorry for this frustrating experience that you're encountering. What you’re seeing usually happens when the family “membership/consent” state gets out of sync, or your son’s account is still linked to another family group, so the join flow flips between “expired”, “already a member”, or “blocked”.

Here are some suggestions you can try to resolve this issue:

1) Recreate the invite from scratch

  • On your (organizer) account, open How to leave a Microsoft family group - Microsoft Support and go to the family page https://account.microsoft.com/family . Remove your son from the family if he appears, and also remove any pending/expired invitation entry.
  • Add him again and send a brand-new invite from the same family page. (Invites are time-limited, so use the new one right away.)
  • On your son’s PC, open the invite link in a clean session (Edge InPrivate or Chrome Incognito), and make sure he is signed into the correct Microsoft account before clicking Join. This avoids the “wrong account already logged in” loop.

2) Confirm he is not still in another family group

  • If the join screen says he’s already in a family, it typically means his Microsoft account is still attached to a different family group (sometimes created long ago, including via Xbox). He must be removed from that other family group before he can join yours.
  • Use https://account.microsoft.com/family while signed in as your son to see whether “Leave family group” exists. If he is a child account, an organizer of the other group may need to remove him (children often cannot fully manage leaving on their own).

3) Refresh parental consent

  • Do this in a private/incognito window to avoid cached redirects:
  • Go to https://account.live.com/consent/Manage
  • Sign in with your son’s account first, then choose “I’m a parent or guardian” and sign in with your adult organizer account to complete consent.
  • Also check the child management page https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx . If consent/permissions are incomplete, they can block joining or keep the family state stuck.

4) Fix the “The request is blocked” error

  • That message is commonly triggered by browser/site data issues, extensions, VPN/proxy, or network filtering.
  • Try Microsoft Edge (preferably InPrivate), clear cookies/cache, temporarily disable ad blockers/privacy extensions, and turn off VPN/proxy.
  • If it still happens on the home network, try a different connection (mobile hotspot is a quick test).

5) If it still won’t accept, use the reference code you’re already seeing

Since your screenshots show a reference/trace-style code, capture that code plus the exact email used for your son’s Microsoft account and contact Microsoft Support:

  • Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
  • Type Contact in the search box.
  • Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support or Sign in to contact support below.
  • Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category.
  • On the Category tab, choose Technical Support.
  • Go to Confirm.
  • You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Important Note: The Chat support team only works at certain work times, (Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you. *

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
