Hi Cindy Watty

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I’m sorry your Inbox emails suddenly disappeared, and I understand how worrying that can be.

I can see a Q&A Assist reply under your post. To avoid repeating it, could you tell me whether you’ve tried those steps yet, and what happens when you try?

In addition, please try the following steps:

1. Double-check on Outlook on the web

  • Sign in to Outlook on the web in your browser
  • Ask someone (or use a different email account you own) to send a fresh test email to your Outlook address
  • Check all folders (Inbox, Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive), ensure your inbox filter is set to All (not “Unread” or another filter).
  • Check Focused / Other tab (if Focused Inbox is enabled), emails may land in Other. You can also temporarily turn Focused Inbox off to test.

2. Check for malicious rules/forwarding

In Outlook on the web's settings, go to:

  • Settings > Mail > Rules/ Sweep: delete any suspicious rules you did not create (especially rules that moves/deletes mail)
  • Settings > Mail > Forwarding: make sure nothing is forwarding

3. Check your internet connection

  • Make sure your device has a stable internet connection and try switching networks (e.g., from Wi-Fi to mobile hotspot) then test again.
  • Check from a different browser/device or from an incognito/private browser window

4. Confirm your mailbox isn't full

If your mailbox is full, new emails won't arrive. In Outlook web, go to Settings > Account > Storage and free up space if needed.

5. If they were deleted: recover them

Even if Deleted Items is empty, you may still be able to restore messages from Recoverable Items:

  • Open Deleted Items.
  • Select Recover items deleted from this folder at the top
  • Select the missing emails (if any) and choose Restore

You can see this official guide: Recover and restore deleted items in Outlook - Microsoft Support

Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Thank you for your time and understanding.

If your emails have disappeared from your inbox, it could be due to a filtering issue or a problem with the view settings in Outlook. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check for Filters: Sometimes, filters may be applied that hide certain emails. To check this:
      • In the ribbon, select the View tab.
      • In the Current View area, select View Settings.
      • Select Filter, and review the tabs for any selections that could filter out specific messages.
    2. View Options: Ensure that your view options are set correctly. You can customize the view to show all items.
    3. Check Other Folders: Sometimes emails may have been moved to other folders. Check your other folders, including Junk Email, Archive, or any custom folders you may have.
    4. Resynchronize Your Inbox: If you're using Cached Exchange Mode, try resynchronizing your inbox. You can do this by right-clicking the Inbox folder, selecting Properties, then Clear Offline Items, and finally pressing Shift+F9 to force a resynchronization.
    5. Restart Outlook: Sometimes, simply restarting Outlook can help resolve display issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to check if there are any updates available for Outlook or consult Microsoft's support documentation for further assistance.
