    Greetings!

    This is Tin, I'm happy to assist you. Official Microsoft emails from trusted domains are these:

    @microsoft.com

    @microsoftsupport.com

    @mail.support.microsoft.com

    @accountprotection.microsoft.com

    If you've received email who don't use that domains, mostlikely its a scam or phishing email.

    Please also take note that MS will not suspend your account without any reason. Please do not click any link on the email that you've received.

    Please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com and if you're able to sign in without any issue, it means your account is good.

    Dear Brian Wood

    Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having trouble verifying whether a “Microsoft will suspend your account” email sent to your Outlook.com address is genuine. I am happy to assist you. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Verify from trusted portals

    • Do not use links or phone numbers in the suspicious message.
    • Open a new browser tab and sign in directly at account.microsoft.com or outlook.live.com to check for alerts.
    • Always navigate to official sites yourself if you’re unsure about a message’s legitimacy.

    2. Check the sender/domain

    • Security notifications for personal Microsoft accounts commonly come from @accountprotection.microsoft.com.
    • If the domain differs (or is subtly misspelled), treat the message as suspicious.

    3. Inspect message headers

    • In Outlook on the web: open the email > More actions > View > View message details.
    • Look for authentication results (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) aligning with the sender domain (e.g., d=accountprotection.microsoft.com).
    • Ensure the “From” address isn’t merely spoofed.

    4. Report phishing

    • Use Outlook’s built‑in Report button: select the message > Report > Report phishing.
    • This removes it from your inbox and helps improve filters.
    • If you use a non‑Outlook client, attach the original message to a new email and send it to ******@office365.microsoft.com.

    5. Cross‑check for phishing indicators

    • Urgent threats (“account will be suspended”).
    • Mismatched domains.
    • Grammatical errors.
    • Outlook “unverified sender (?)” badge.

    6. If you clicked a link or entered credentials

    • Secure your account immediately.
    • Review Recent activity, change your password, and follow the compromised‑account recovery steps.

    7. If your Outlook.com account is blocked

    8. Report unsafe websites in Microsoft Edge

    In Edge: Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > Report unsafe website.

    For more details, see:
