    @Mary O'Brien said

    I had multiple accounts in Outlook Web until today, 8/31/26. What changed? This is terribly inconvenient

    When you say "Outlook Web" do you mean you open a browser to https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/ ?

    Are you sure the other accounts were "connected accounts" using the old process that was discontinued July 1, 2024?

    Maybe they were Shared Accounts or Mailboxes?

    If they were indeed "connected accounts", then I can't offer any explanation for how you managed to keep using this feature until just recently. All I can suggest it bring in Microsoft Support to see exactly how these other accounts were configured in your Outlook tenant on the mail server.

    • Logon to https://outlook.live.com/
    • From the main menu: Help -> ? Help
    • {This should open the Help side panel}
    • Search Help -> {Your problem} and press Enter
    • Still need help? [Yes]
    • If you get "We're here to help": Tell us your problem -> {Your problem, again} [Get Help]
    • [Sign In] {Use any Outlook/Microsoft account}
    • Choose a support option -> Chat with a support agent in your web browser

    Hi,

    This is April, I'll be happy to assist you. I understand you need help with your Outlook webmail browser. Let me help you out.

    Based on the description of the issue you provided, you want to know how to add or access a second email account in Outlook when using the web browser version, not the desktop application.

    Can you confirm whether the second account you want to add is personal mailbox you own, or a shared/delegated mailbox that someone else has given you access to?

    In Outlook on the web, it isn't possible to completely merge two accounts into a single session. You can either sign in separately and switch between accounts or if the other mailbox is a shared or delegated account, add it as a shared folder within your Outlook web interface.

    2 Ways to access a Second Account in Outlook Web:

    1. Switch between accounts (Separate sign-in)
      • Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of Outlook on the web.
      • Select Sign in with a different account.
      • Enter the second email address and complete the sign-in process
      • To change accounts, click the profile icon again and choose the account you want to use.

    Note: Outlook on the web supports only one active account per browser session. To keep two accounts open at the same time, you can:

    • Use different browser (for example, Edge for one account and Chrome for another), or
    • Open the second account in a private/incognito window
    1. Add a Shared or Delegated Mailbox

    If the other mailbox has been shared with you:

    • Sign in to Outlook on the web using your main account.
    • In the left-hand folder pane, right-click Folders.
    • Select Add shared folder.
    • Enter the email address of the shared mailbox.
    • The shared mailbox will appear in your folder list, allowing you to read and manage its emails without switching accounts.

    When managing multiple accounts, it's important to understand the difference between personal and shared access. If you're adding a second personal account, you'll need to sign in to it separately, as shared folder access only works when the mailbox owner has explicitly granted permissions. Many users handle this by using one account in their main browser and another in an incognito or private window to switch between them easily. Alternatively, the Outlook desktop app offers a more convenient solution, as it allows multiple accounts to be added and managed within a single interface, unlike the web version.

    I hope this helps. If you need further assistance. please don’t hesitate to contact us again. I am here to help and appreciate your continued trust in us.

    Thank you,

    April P.
