How to View the Sync Issues Folders in Classic Outlook (latest versions)

Because of changes to the left-side Apps Bar and Navigation Pane, "Ctrl+6 to switch to the Folder List view" does not always work anymore. This is the updated process.

To see the Sync Issues folders you first have to get your Navigation Pane to show the "Folders List". How to do this will depend on your Outlook Navigation Pane Options.

1A -- If you see a Folders icon in the bottom left corner of your window, click it. If you see a three dots menu in the bottom left corner of your window, click it and choose Folders.

1B -- If you have the "Apps Bar" on the left side of your window and there is a Folders icon, click it. If you have the "Apps Bar" but there is no Folders icon, click on the "More Apps" icon at the bottom of the bar and choose "Folders".

2 -- Once you have the Folders List in the Navigation Pane, expand the folder list for your account, look for the "Sync Issues" folder, and expand it.

There are up to four Sync Issues folders:

Sync Issues - Contains all of the synchronization logs. Messages in this folder are helpful if Outlook is having trouble connecting or you are not getting new mail in some folders.

Conflicts - Contains the copies of conflicting items created during a sync.

Local Failures - Contains all items that could not be sent to your server. If your changes are not appearing in other Outlook clients check this folder.

Server Failures - When Outlook cannot synchronize an item from the server, it moves it from its original folder location into the Server Failures folder. The contents of this folder are available only when you have a connection to your server. If you are missing expected emails, check this folder.

    Hello,

Open Outlook and press Ctrl+6 to switch to the Folder List view so every mailbox folder is visible.

In the left pane expand your mailbox and open Sync Issues. You will see its subfolders Conflicts, Local Failures, and Server Failures. Open one of these folders, press Ctrl+A to select all items, then press Delete to move them to Deleted Items. Repeat for the other Sync Issues subfolders.

To complete the cleanup, right click Deleted Items and choose Empty Folder. If you prefer to permanently remove the items in one step, select them and press Shift+Delete instead.

Note: This cleanup is safe. Items in Sync Issues are local logs and problem copies and deleting them does not remove your actual email on the server.

If you cannot find Sync Issues, make sure the Folder Pane is set to Normal under the View tab, then press Ctrl+6 again. If you are using the new Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web, the Sync Issues folder is not exposed there.
