    Dear @Garvin Abernathy,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you're trying to locate files in OneDrive when you only remember part of the file name.

The quickest way to find files when you only know a partial name is to use the Search bar within OneDrive. OneDrive supports searching by partial file names directly from the web interface or the OneDrive app. Here’s how you can do it:

Option 1: OneDrive on the web

Sign in your account via office.com > Apps > OneDrive.

Click the Search bar at the top, type the partial name, then press Enter. Use filters such as All files, My files, Whole organization and other options to narrow results.

    Notes:

    • If the item was stored in a team site, check Shared libraries in OneDrive (Teams and SharePoint files appear there).
    • If you’re trying to recover something that seems missing, open the OneDrive Recycle Bin and restore it.

Option 2: Search from Windows or File Explorer (with OneDrive sync)

Make sure the OneDrive sync app is signed in and actively syncing.

Right‑click the OneDrive icon and select Open folder.

When the OneDrive folder opens, use the search bar to look for the file name and locate the item.

Note: Sync and search may fail if the filename contains invalid characters or the path is too long. Please rename the file to a valid name.

To locate a specific file on OneDrive when you know a partial name, you can use the search functionality within OneDrive. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Open OneDrive: Go to your OneDrive account either through the web or the OneDrive app.
    2. Use the Search Bar: At the top of the OneDrive interface, there is a search bar. Enter the partial name of the file you are looking for.
    3. Review Search Results: As you type, OneDrive will display a list of files that match your search criteria. You can scroll through these results to find the specific file you need.
    4. Filter Results: If necessary, you can apply filters to narrow down the results based on file type or date modified.

This method should help you quickly locate the files you are searching for in OneDrive.
