Welcome colbie mcguire

Thanks for joining the Q&A Forum and apologies for any inconveniences you've met.

I see you're having trouble connecting your Windows 10 laptop to Sky broadband, even though it connects to WiFi outside your home. It worked for a few weeks but now fails to find or connect to the network, while other devices connect without issues.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Forget and reconnect the network

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.

Select the Sky network, click Forget, then rescan and reconnect.

  1. Run Network Troubleshooter

Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Internet Connections.

Run the troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

  1. Reset Winsock

Type cmd from Start to open command Prompt (run as administrator)

Enter netsh winsock reset and reboot your computer.

  1. Check wireless bands (recommended)

Sky hubs broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Log into your router settings, test with:

  • Enable both
  • Disable 5Ghz, use the 2.4Ghz only (to avoid conflict if any)

Note: To log into your router settings, open a web browser, type your router’s IP address (commonly 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) into the address bar, press Enter, and then sign in with the admin username and password (often printed on the router or provided by your ISP).

  1. Router settings

Also, in the router admin page

Disable MAC address filtering or add your laptop’s MAC address.

Confirm router firmware is up to date.

Tip: To find MAC address on Windows: Open Command Prompt > type ipconfig /all

  1. Update Network adapter drivers

Open Device Manager > Network adapters.

Right-click your WiFi adapter > Update driver > Search automatically.

If no update is found, check your laptop manufacturer’s website for the latest driver.

Extra Tips:

Restart both router and laptop (power cycle hub by unplugging for 30 seconds).

Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall software to rule out blocking issues.
