I have a GMail account for my business that I mainly use in outlook. For the sake of privacy, lets say my business's name is [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]. I have set my first name to be "[Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]" through google, however, when I send emails through outlook my name becomes [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]. When I send emails through GMail my name appears as [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed], as it should. I am relatively new to outlook so please be patient with me if this is an easy fix.

Hi JaltyAFC,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding the display name incident when sending emails from New Outlook for Windows not matching the name set in Gmail, you can resolve it by following these steps:

Steps to update your display name in New Outlook for Windows:

Open the New Outlook app on your computer.

  1. Click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Scroll down and select Accounts.
  3. Choose the Gmail account related to this incident.
  4. Look for the section Your name / Display name / Send mail as name.
  5. Enter the name you want to display when sending emails.
  6. Save the changes and restart Outlook.

If Outlook does not show the option to change the name:

You can update it directly in Gmail:

  1. Open Gmail in your browser.
  2. Go to Settings > See all settings > Accounts and Import.
  3. Under Send mail as, click edit info.
  4. Change the name as desired and save the changes.
  5. Restart Outlook to sync.

After completing these steps, you can send a test email to confirm if the display name is correct.
