Hi @Peter Meidlinger,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, some of the files saved on your laptop’s OneDrive are not appearing when you sign in from a public computer. We truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to describe the situation and your effort to keep your files properly synced.

This issue can happen when certain files or folders have not completed synchronization with your OneDrive cloud storage. Common reasons include paused sync, pending uploads due to slow or interrupted internet, or files stored locally but not yet uploaded to the cloud. When this occurs, those files won’t be available when you access OneDrive from another device. Fix OneDrive sync problems - Microsoft Support

Please follow these steps to ensure all your files are fully synced and accessible from any computer:

  1. On your laptop, select the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar.
  2. Choose Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup, and make sure all important folders (Documents, Desktop, Pictures) are turned on for syncing.
  3. Verify that OneDrive status shows “Up to date.” If not, select Resume syncing or wait until it completes.
  4. Check your internet connection to confirm it’s stable throughout the syncing process.
  5. After syncing completes, sign in to OneDrive.com using the same Microsoft account to confirm your files appear online.
  6. If any files still do not show up, restart your device and repeat the steps above.

Following these steps will ensure all your files are backed up to the cloud and available on any device where you sign in with your OneDrive account.

If the issue persists, please contact your school's IT department to check if any permissions or restrictions associated with your school account might be affecting OneDrive syncing. They will have the appropriate tools to verify and adjust settings specific to education accounts.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

We hope this explanation clarifies how the spelling checker operates in New Outlook and that the outlined steps will suit your situation and enhance your email composing experience. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

To ensure that your files are accessible from any computer, you need to make sure that they are properly synced with OneDrive. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Check Sync Status: Make sure that the OneDrive sync app is running on your laptop and that it shows the files as "Up to date". If some files are not syncing, they may be in a hidden or temporary state.
    2. Use the OneDrive Sync App: Ensure you are using the latest OneDrive sync app. This app allows you to sync files from your local OneDrive folder to the cloud, making them accessible from any device.
    3. Sync All Files: If you have selectively synced folders, ensure that the folders containing the files you need are set to sync. You can do this by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in the taskbar, selecting "Settings", and then checking the "Choose folders" option to ensure all necessary folders are selected.
    4. Accessing from Public Computers: When you log into OneDrive on a public computer, make sure you are using the same Microsoft account that you used on your laptop. You can access your files through the OneDrive web interface.
    5. Check for Hidden Files: Sometimes, hidden or temporary files may cause issues with syncing. Make sure to check for these files and remove any unnecessary ones.
    6. Rebuild Windows Search Index: If you suspect that the sync status is incorrect due to a caching issue, you can rebuild the Windows Search index, which may help resolve the issue.

By following these steps, you should be able to access your OneDrive files from any computer without issues.
