Although I have unchecked the Copilot box, quit and restarted Word and my computer, the icon continues to appear on the docs I'm working on. It's enormously distracting to me. How do I get rid of it?

Thanks for any help you can provide

UPDATE: The 16.103.1 update appears to have removed the intrusive logo from the Word window.

The update is available to those who use the Current Channel (Preview) option but should be released to everyone a bit later this month.

I would like to have Copilot available for occasional use, but I don't want that icon in every document I'm working on. It seems however, that my only choices are on or off. I've got it turned off, so it's not continuously annoying me, but when I do want to use it I have to go into preferences, turn it on, use it, back to preferences, turn it off, rinse and repeat. I would like to see an option to have it available with one click in the toolbar, but not being so intrusive.

To remove the Copilot icon from your documents in Word, you can try the following steps:

    1. Disable Copilot in Settings: Make sure you have unchecked the Copilot option in the settings. If you have already done this, proceed to the next steps.
    2. Restart Word: Close Word completely and reopen it to see if the icon disappears.
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Microsoft 365 apps are up to date, as updates may fix bugs related to the Copilot feature.
    4. Contact IT Support: If the icon still appears after trying the above steps, you may need to contact your IT administrator for further assistance, as there might be organization-specific settings affecting the visibility of the Copilot icon.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider filing a support request for more tailored assistance.
