Can you have both AD Connect and the Intune ODJ onto the same server

We're trying to continue our Migration from SCCM to Intune. We'd like to know if we can have Entra Connect and the ODJ Intune connect on the same server. We want to make sure that it doesn't duplicate objects that are already in entra. We already have Entra Connect installed. But we'd like to change the enrollment to start with intune then go back to Active Directory.

I want to challenge the following claim in the AI-generated answer:

"If you already have Azure AD Connect installed, it's advisable to keep it on a separate server from the Intune ODJ Connector to avoid any potential conflicts or issues with object duplication in Azure AD."

Is this documented anywhere as official guidance, and is the described behavior observed in practice? If there are real issues, they should be documented. Otherwise, this claim shouldn't be considered relevant.

It is understandable that running both services on the same server might be a security risk, but is it also an operational risk, and is it an unsupported scenario?

You cannot have both Azure AD Connect and the Intune Offline Domain Join (ODJ) Connector installed on the same server. Each connector serves different purposes and is designed to operate independently. Azure AD Connect is used to synchronize on-premises directories with Azure Active Directory, while the Intune ODJ Connector is specifically for joining computers to an on-premises domain during the Windows Autopilot process.

If you already have Azure AD Connect installed, it's advisable to keep it on a separate server from the Intune ODJ Connector to avoid any potential conflicts or issues with object duplication in Azure AD.

For your migration from SCCM to Intune, you can set up the Intune ODJ Connector on a different server to manage the enrollment process without interfering with Azure AD Connect's functionality.
