Form asking for those given the link to sign into two different m365 tenants

Hi there,

A quick explaination for context. A staff member made a Form using their credentials for a different m365 tenant, realised he needed to have the form sharing on a separate tenant, printed the form to PDF and uploaded it to the other tenant.

After sharing the link to those on the other tenant, they are asked to sign into their microsoft account for that tenant, then are asked to login using credentials for the tenant the form was originally exported from.

Just wondering if there is a fix, or if the staff member will just have to remake the form on the tenant he needs to share it on.

Dear @Finn Richardson,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. We are happy to assist.

Microsoft Forms are tied to the tenant where they are created. When a form is built under a specific Microsoft 365 tenant, its link and data remain associated with that tenant. Exporting the form to PDF and uploading it elsewhere only provides a static copy, it does not transfer the form’s functionality or submission capability.

As a result, when users click the original link, they are prompted to sign in to the tenant where the form was originally created.

Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature to move or convert a form between tenants. Microsoft Forms does not support cross-tenant migration, so the authentication prompt you’re seeing is expected behavior because the form still resides in the original tenant. My recommendation is to recreate the form in the correct tenant: This is the only way to have a fully functional form under the desired tenant. If the form is complex, you can manually copy the questions or use the duplicate feature within the same tenant (note: duplication does not work across tenants).

If your goal is to collect responses from external users, you can enable “Anyone can respond” in the form settings on the original tenant. However, this approach keeps the form in the original tenant and may not meet your organization’s compliance requirements.

I hope this information is helpful. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to reach out. We are here to help. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
