how to insert a webpage into powerpoint

I've been trying to figure out how to insert a live webpage within a powerpoint. (Not linking to open in a browser - but staying within powerpoint.) Many of the addons seem to be discontinued.

Hi David,

It seems there’s no longer a way to do this in the recent versions of PowerPoint. Both the LiveWeb add-in and the built-in Web Viewer no longer appear to work. As a workaround, you can try inserting the content as a video if that suits your needs. Hopefully, Microsoft will reintroduce this functionality in a future update.

Thanks, Paulo. It's pretty incredible that there isn't a way to do this. And that it existed but is no longer available. It would seem like such an essential thing, and jumping out to a browser during a presentation is incredibly awkward. (I'd swear I've seen people show embedded sites...)

The particular site I want to embed is interactive, so a video (unless I made one of myself tooling around the site) wouldn't do the trick.

(And embedding videos is another weakness of PPT - that you can really only embed YouTube videos unless it's something you can download. But that's another issue!)

I agree. It seems the Web Viewer was discontinued because of low usage and failure to meet Microsoft’s internal threshold for continued support. As a workaround, another possible solution is to use Microsoft Sway, which supports embedding content, although this only works with supported platforms. You can check whether the website you’re trying to embed is included in the supported list mentioned in the article. Aside from that, I’m afraid there may not be another option that fits your needs using PowerPoint.

Oh, gawd, another app to figure out!. And the website I want to embed has its own domain, so I don't think it's on the supported list.

Sway will not work here. It only supports embedding from a fixed list of domains (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), not custom URLs. And the video suggestion does not solve your problem either, since you need interactivity, not playback.

Microsoft retired the Web Viewer add-in in December 2024 with no native replacement. The older LiveWeb add-in stopped working years before that.

The technical approach that still works is iframe-based embedding through a third-party Office add-in. The way it works: the add-in loads your URL inside an iframe on the slide, so the page runs live during presentation mode with full interactivity.

Search "embed live webpage in powerpoint" and you should find some workable iframe-based options.
