Unable to add Exchange email address in Apple Mail on Mac

I am trying to add my Exchange email to Apple Mail on Mac, but I keep getting the same message that says, when going into the sign-in page, "Authentication Failed. Failed to authenticate, please try again later."

I tried to sign in manually to see if that would work, but to no avail; it says, "Unable to verify account name or password."

Is there a working solution that specifically solves this issue?

I created a fresh install of macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 and had no problem in Mail using "Microsoft Exchange" to add my Outlook account. Used the "SignIn" route, got the window to verify my Outlook account and all went fine. Based on others now not having any problems it looks like Apple and/or Microsoft fixed something. Nice to have Email back and working like before.

Having the same problem, have spoken to Apple who suggested reinstalling macos (not helpful) - now it seems to be an incompatibility between Apple Mail and Microsoft - how do we move forward ?
