So we are using approvals through teams but after the first person approves it the status is then set that it sends it to the final person in the approval chain but we need multiple people to approve it before it is sent on to that final person.

Hi Gurpreet Thiarai

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum support

As far as I know, natively Microsoft Teams Approvals app is designed for simple approval processes but does not support complex multi-level approval chains where multiple people must approve before it moves to the final approver.  However, from my perspective view, using Power Automate is the best approach for this context. You can set up the flow to wait for all intermediate approvals before triggering the final approval step, thus modeling a multi-stage approval process within Teams. Additionally, Power Automate supports advanced configurations and can integrate deeply with Teams and other Microsoft 365 services for full control over the approval process.

You can try the below instruction to see if it can fulfill your demand:

  • Go to make.powerautomate.com and sign in.
  • Create a new automated cloud flow (e.g., triggered by a Microsoft Form submission, SharePoint item creation, or Teams message).
  • Add the Start and wait for an approval action.
  • Set Approval type to Sequential.
  • Add approvers in stages: Under "Assigned to - 1," enter the first approver's email.
  • Click "Add new item" to add subsequent stages (e.g., Assigned to - 2 for the second approver, and so on up to the final one).
  • Customize the title, details, and any Markdown formatting.
  • Add conditions or actions after (e.g., send notifications on approval/rejection).
  • Save and test the flow.

This summary is based on my findings from the community and several relevant threads. However, it may not accurately reflect the behavior in question. To help you reach your goal more effectively, I recommend posting a thread on the https://community.powerplatform.com/. It’s a great platform for deeper technical discussions and connecting with individuals who have hands-on experience and expertise. They’re best positioned to provide guidance and valuable insights on this topic.

Hope my answer will help you
