The USB flash drive is not visible in File Explorer, despite being plugged and unplugged multiple times. It was functioning properly yesterday. What troubleshooting steps can be taken to resolve this issue?

Hi @Camilo Arango Moncayo,

Thank you for contacting us about your USB flash drive not appearing in File Explorer. Since it worked previously, try these steps:

Check Disk Management

  • Right-click Start > Disk Management.
  • Find your drive (match its size, may say "Removable").
  • No Drive Letter: Right-click partition > Change Drive Letter and Paths > Add > assign a letter (e.g., E:).
  • Unallocated: Right-click > New Simple Volume > format with NTFS or exFAT (data will be erased; use Recuva to recover if needed).

Test Connections

  • Use a different USB port (back of PC preferred).
  • Avoid hubs; test on another computer.

Check Device Manager

  • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
  • Expand Disk Drives and USB Serial Bus Controllers; look for yellow exclamation marks.
  • Right-click > Update Driver or Uninstall Device, then replug the drive.

If the drive isn’t detected elsewhere, it may be damaged. Consider data recovery or replacement. Please try these and let us know the results or any errors. We’re here to help!
