Azure tenant blocked due to inactivity (AADSTS5000225) - Unable to access portal or create support ticket . I cannot log in to the Azure portal to manage resources or subscriptions.

I am unable to create a support ticket via the Azure portal since login is required for ticket creation.

I have tried clearing cache, cookies, and using direct tenant login URLs, but the issue persists.

Calling Microsoft support phone numbers leads me to an automated system that only redirects me back to the website without giving an option to talk to an agent or create a ticket.

I do not have access to any other tenant or admin accounts to raise a support request on behalf of this blocked tenant.

Hi Avish,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

Based on your description, you are unable to sign in to your Azure tenant and are receiving the error code AADSTS5000225 indicating the tenant is inactive. Despite attempts using the Azure Portal, Entra Admin Center, and Microsoft support channels, the tenant remains inaccessible, and support options have not connected you to a resolution.

The error code AADSTS5000225 means your Azure tenant has been blocked due to inactivity. According to Microsoft’s official guidance, this typically occurs if there has been no sign-in activity for over 200 days. When a tenant is marked inactive:

  • Microsoft applies a login block, resulting in AADSTS5000225 during sign-in.
  • After 20 days from being blocked, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
  • If you’re within the 20-day window, there is a possibility to request reactivation through Microsoft support.

Steps for Recovery or Next Actions:

  • If less than 20 days have passed since the tenant was blocked, please provide the following details for further assistance in private message:
    • Tenant ID
    • Subscription ID (if available)
    • Error and correlation ID from the failed login
    • Timestamp of the failed login attempt
    • Explanation of the business impact and reason for recovery
    • If more than 20 days have passed, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
    • For future prevention, regularly sign in to your Azure tenant to keep it active and avoid automatic deletion due to inactivity.
